Boundaries are as necessary to a relationship as are walls to a house. They need to be put up for a strong foundation and have doors that we can open and close based on our needs. Relationship counselors meet many clients who assume setting a boundary with a partner is against love. They have skewed beliefs that to be in love means to become one with their partner, mesh into one stream of emotions and thoughts without distinct borders. Nothing can be farther from the truth.
